Electrical Trim-out, Solar Tubes, Kitchen Backsplash

A lot of stuff happened today!

The solar tube installer from SolarTex showed up this morning and I spent some time locating the correct place over the island to install the solar tubes. The following pictures show him starting to cut the hole in the ceiling for the solar tube, and the bottoms of one of the tubes, waiting to be installed.


After he cut the holes in the ceiling and installed the tube bottoms, he said he would have to come back later to install the roof domes, since it was drizzling outside and he didn’t want to cut a hole in the roof.

As I got out of the shower this morning, Cliff and Ed and Jose had all arrived and were going over the job site. We spent about an hour talking about all the finish-out that has to happen. There was quite a bit of discussion about the deck material and railing, and I expressed a bit of frustration with being hit with yet another change order. I also expressed the urgency of needing to get things finished out in time, and that the first of my wedding guests arrive in less than two weeks.

When I got home from work this afternoon, I saw that the electricians had finished installing sockets and light switches and trimming out a large amount of the electrical. They also installed the pendant lights and several other light fixtures.


They also started installed the hardibacker that sits behind the tile backsplash of the kitchen. In the morning Primo started cutting away all the sheetrock in the backsplash area, and by the end of the day they had installed all of the hardibacker:
